Andrew Smith

 

After finishing medical school at Kings College London, Mr Smith completed his basic surgical training in London and the south east. He spent time in neurosurgery, vascular and plastic surgery, as well as Orthopaedics.

He completed his higher specialist trauma and orthopaedic training in the South East Thames training programme. This was followed by Fellowship training in hand and microsurgery at the Kleinert Institute, Louisville, USA. He was appointed as a substantive Consultant to East Kent Hospitals in 2005.

Mr Smith carries out treatment of all common hand conditions including; carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, trigger thumb, Dupuytrens Disease, thumb base arthritis and tendonitis problems. He also treats more complex conditions requiring patient specific implants, thumb base joint replacements and wrist arthritis including wrist replacements.

In his spare time he enjoys keeping fit and spending time with this family. He has completed 4 long distance triathlon Ironman events and well as multiple long distance cycle events including the Marmotte, the Ride Across Britain and the Etape.

After nearly 20 years as a consultant in East Kent Hospitals Mr Smith now practices independently. He treats NHS patients though the Choose and Book/ ERs systems at One Ashford and the Spencer private hospitals.''
